…but it’s not because I’m old (although, I’m critical of bars that play music too loud, so there might be something to that after all). I’ve been pretty busy lately, working on several different projects, some of which I can talk about, others, I have to keep hush-hush!
Of the stuff I can talk about, here’s some highlights:
1) I’m starting work on a new book using the “Lobotomy” characters – it’s tentatively titled “Super Lobotomy” or, alternately, “Super Smart”. It’s going to be a tale of good deeds & good intentions, Brain-guy style! I’m working on script revisions and thumbnails now – I’d love to have it ready for SPX, but don’t hold me to that!
2) I created a short comic & pin-up for “Aftershock”, a comic anthology about, and benefiting Japan, in response to the earthquake that happened earlier this year. The book, as originally intended, will be out in e-book format later this year through Top Shelf, but the organizers are looking to do a print version as well. They started a Kickstarter campaign to help finance the first run of books – go here to check it out, and make a donation. If you donate 10 or more dollars, there are some awesome nifty-thank-you-gifties that await, including books, original art work, and thank you’s!
3) I’ve been working on a 3-d art piece about airplanes – it’s really cute!
In progress, of course!
4) I created an original piece of art for Sailbear Labs’ “Unicorn Art Mix” happening on August 12th, in Phoenix, AZ. Sailbear Labs is a unique non-profit organization that helps kids improve their writing, communication, teamwork, and creative skills through creative projects and mentoring. The ‘Unicorn Art Mix” is a fundraiser for SL and a book launch for “Raising Unicorns”, a humorous how-to guide written by Jessica Seck Marquis, a co-founder of Sailbear Labs. I can’t post an image quite yet, but one will be coming soon! Just imagine a world where Legos & Unicorns meet….
5) Upcoming conventions I’m confirmed at : Philly Alt Con (Philadelphia, PA), SPX (Bethesda, MD), and MICE (Boston, MA). There most certainly will be a few more before the year is out.
That seems to be it for now…keep your eyes peeled for more stuff!
